Newell mandolins use “Carbon Fiber” in the neck. I feel that the short neck of the mandolin lends it’s self nicely to the use of this light weight extremely stiff material. There is no truss rod to have to adjust or to rattle, buzz or seize up on you. No truss rod cover to interrupt the graceful lines of the headstock. No semi-hollow spot in the neck to interfere with the sound transfer. You can hold one of my instruments and someone can be talking across the table from you and you can feel the responsiveness of the instrument as it responds to their voice with subtle vibrations.
